The Great Circle Alliance works to ensure that Ohio’s Indigenous past - a history continuously woven into Ohio’s landscape - is not forgotten, but honored, carried forward, and amplified as a living culture.
Our Mission
To bring greater public awareness and appreciation to the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks
To promote greater visibility of Native American artists expressing their indigenous worldviews and traditions
To encourage contemporary Native and non-Native voices to play an active role in building a richer understanding of Ohio's ancient history
Current Projects
The Great Circle Alliance is proud to deliver a diverse range of projects including tours, presentations, and exhibitions. Our Native American Artist Residency is unique to the region.
Enriching Communities
Through partnerships with Native Americans connected to the ceremonial Hopewell sites, local organizations, scholars, artists, and community members, we help connect ancestral voices with Ohio’s people today.
The Great Circle Alliance brings Native and non-Native communities together to deepen appreciation and engagement with the Hopewell earthworks.
We support educational programs, site activities, our Artist in Residence program, special events, and volunteer opportunities, strengthening the connection between people and these remarkable places.
“There is not another place in the world like the Newark Earthworks. And they need to be shared, experienced on a daily basis by masses of people.”
